About Us

Husband and wife team, Bob and Annie Dennerley launched Dennerley Leather Designs in 1975.
Since then the Hunter Valley based artisans have been crafting and selling their exquisite pieces from their retail space in Maitland NSW.

Bob and Annie understand the patient work that goes into producing quality, handcrafted leather goods. Together they create a wide range of products including leather aprons, belts, wallets, bags, clutches, journals and travel accessories.

Whether it is Annie’s stylish handbags or Bob’s horticultural aprons, these timeless pieces are to be cherished for a lifetime.

"The beauty of handmade lies in their imperfections."
As the products of Dennerley Leather Designs are handmade, there may be some slight imperfections. These imperfections in no way affect the quality of the pieces and instead, highlights the skilled hands that crafted them.

Annie Dennerley
Ever since I was a young girl in England, creativity has been an integral part of my life. It is my passion, my drug of choice! Whether it be writing poetry or prose, or painting or designing, I derive enormous satisfaction from producing beautiful things.
Each morning, I cycle along the river to our workshop/studio to design and manufacture the leatherwork for which we have become well-known in the Hunter Valley. Each item is designed and handmade by us, using only quality materials.
Being a Francophile from way back, I use the word “chic” as a compass to drive my style, which is classic, simple and stylish, with an edge of elegance.

Please enjoy our website and be assured that each piece has been lovingly crafted by us for you to utilise and enjoy for years to come.

Bob Dennerley

In 1963, the Dennerley family left Southampton in England, for the distant shores of Australia. It was a move we embraced heartily, especially me. As a young boy, I quickly acclimatised and became fascinated with the unique flora and fauna that inhabit this land. It is nature that inspires me in all my work, be it carpentry, art or leatherwork.
I am a self-taught craftsperson, and began making a living from leather work by selling on the streets of Kings Cross in Sydney. From there, I sold at fairs and markets ranging from humble village events to Covent Garden Markets in London.
It was when my wife, Annie, and I decided to rent a shop that things started to take off, and we haven’t looked back. We consider ourselves fortunate to enjoy our work so much and to meet so many diverse and interesting customers.

Please enjoy our website and as the seasons unfold, we will introduce new designs for you.
